Helllloooo Loverrrrrssss!

So got Second Cup today (obvi). This whole getting coffee before work thing started because my travel mug died. SO obvi Dave bought me a new mug for my bday (much appreciated) with some deeeelish coffee to make at home. But it's just not the same is it? Seeing as I only have 3 days left of work, I assume this "am treat" is going to come to an end, nevertheless Kris left a thermos at my house on my bday. I washed it and had it all prepped to give it back to her, but she told me I could keep it... forever! Now I know you hear thermos and think lukewarm soup at lunch in grade 2, but this thing is PIIIIMP. It's so pretty. So today, I got the SC in it and the coffee is still going and it's pipin' hot!!! You should all buy one if you love the coff. The sweetest thing about it (other than the girliness and the fact it is still hot 3 hours later) is the fact that the seal is sooo good I can toss it into my bag and nothing leaks. I LOVE IT!

Other than my sweet new thermos (thanks Kris) got to read on the way to work... all I want to do is curl up in my chair and read... hence why Dave and I are jetting away next week to the cottage. You know those days, coffee, read, hammock, swim, read, swim, read, eat, swim, read, sleep. Soooo lazy, but sooo productive! Right now I am sneaking in pages at my desk... and by sneaking I obviously mean blatantly reading and showing no interest in my work.. at all! Yay for rebellion! I'm so BA (bad ass... or badass as Mar likes to say). Loving this book so far! Ann is reading it too so I have someone to love up on it with me! yay for book buddies!

Hills aftershow with Kathryn and Charlie tonight. Going to try and kiss Levy for Jill... even if it means me getting kicked out!

Link of the Day- Cake Wrecks

You know when you see a really beautiful cake and you think "how the hell did they do that" OR when you see a horrid cake and think "really? REALLY?". Well this site is just that! And yes that is supposed to be Mickey Mouse. People send in photos of professional cakes that are great or horrible. The editors of this site compile them all into categories so you can compare just how bad (or good) they are! Look through a few pages, you'll get the hang of it and LOVE it!

Business Sexi/ Business Frumpi

Different functions require different dress codes, and we agonize over what to wear to each. Some you may be familiar with include: Black Tie, Semi-Formal, Business Casual, Casual etc... However, as I am entering into the wonderful world of business I have been fortunate (?) enough to discover 2 more; Business Sexi and Business Frumpi.

Business Sexi was a concept spotted by the Posse at a conference in Montreal in late 2009. This dress code (for women) requires typical business casual wear, that is a little bit tighter, little bit lower cut, much shorter skirt (with a gargantuan slit of course) and whole hellofalotta higher heel. You can find these sexi fashionistas shopping at stores such as Le Chateau. The outfit can best be imagined as a halter top suit with platform 6" heels. Accurate depiction here

Business frumpi has been around for decades, but most recently has been brought to my attention by Mary. The 2010 version of BF for women is skater shoes, oversized pants, a cotton t-shirt with either a hoodie, windbreaker or fleece. Other items included in BF wearers closets include numerous ill-fitted wardrobe items, leisure wear and ripped anything, also wearing these with anything.

Now don't get me wrong- I am no fashionista myself, but I believe that it isn't hard to look respectable at work- even on a low cash flow. Here are some words of wisdom I have learned K.I.S. (Keep It Simple) with a hint of flair. Too much flair= Business Sexi, too much K.I.S= Business Frumpi. I know we can't look our best everyday, but please try to stray away from this two REDIC codes.

gLee Tinite!

gLee is on tonight... I'M SO EXCITED! I'm going to have to timeshift but I am staying up until 3AM if that's what it takes! So many people want to be on gLee - Karen (from Will and Grace), Brit Spears, every-freaking-body! But they are all hilarious and therefore I want them on. Esp. Karen! Can you imagine her sassing off Sue- too good to imagine!

ALSO Kristin Chenoweth is coming back on! OMG I loveeee Wicked and I loveeeee KC! Her unique massive high pitched voice just makes me love her! Have you guys seen Wicked? YOU NEED TO! It's fab! I've seen it twice and I'm going to see it again and again until I die.... which hopefully is 30,000 years from now... not literally- ew imagine the wrinkles! Anywayssssss Idina Menzel is ALSO on gLee now (she plays elphaba in Wicked)! Wicked and gLee this is too much! I bet Menzel is going to end up being Rachel's Mom... they look sooo much alike. Book Club?

I love reading! There's nothing like it. I want to start a book club. The poss and I talked about this a little while ago, and now I'm doing it! Anyone interested? Of you are pick up a copy of the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo! Now when I say book club, I obvi mean "an excuse to drink copious amounts of wine and gab my face off with my bitches" club. I think I may have more people interested now? Lol.

Anyhoo read this book by sayyy.... May 25th (day after the long weekend... therefor no excuses) and we will have wine and gabs at our place! Bring wine and your thoughts and we will supply the appys. Ah so excited! For those of you who are out of town (i.e. Denmark, Vancity, or Auz) we can web cam you in! YES! Also bring ideas for the next book we should read! Doesn't need to be new or a "buzz book" just something you love/ hate/ want to read!

Goooooood Morning,

Firstly, sorry for being MIA this past week. I couldn't bring myself to blog while I was on holiday. On the other hand- I have a ton to blog about today/ this week . Woooohooo

While I was home someone in my office switched out my keyboard. I'm not feeling this AT ALL. All the keys stick so this is taking me waaaaay longer. I am not happy and I am out for blood. Seeing as I have zero authority around here I am going to have to deal with this for this last week I am here. Bahhhh such a perfect start to a Monday haha- typical.

Home was great! Went shopping in the States on the weekend. It's amazing how much cheaper things are there. I love it! Got some "staples" for the wardrobe and a bunch of other stuff too! love love love.

Ran the 5 K!!! It took me 32 minutes- pretty turtley but my goal was under 35 sooo... I DID IT! Now on to 8K! Looking for a training schedule now, going to register for the race either today or tomorrow so I have some motivation to train. Got new shoes too so that's great!

Oh and my Gma (who is like my BFF and is just an amazing lady) is going in for hip surgery this week (Wednesday). Sooo if you believe pray, if you don't think about her please! I know she would really appreciate it! Ahhh gotta love her!

I am going to make up for my absence by a) starting early (check) and b) blogging allll day!

I Love Toronto

I moved here in the Fall and I adore this city! I love (almost) everything about it. I could live here forever! I love the buzz and I love love love all the fun stuff to do! Maddie showed me This site in the fall! It's the perfect guide for someone living in this wonderous citaaay. My favorites are the "best of", which is a list of the top places to go for a certain catgory i.e. "Top Breakfast Spots in TO". I love it! Whenever I am looking for something to do I hit it up for ideas! Check it out!

Facelift!

I gave the blog a little upgrade today! Notice a new header, a prettier background and FISH! Everyone that knows me, knows I want a pet. Charlie and I have been contemplating getting some fish so I thought I would test them out on here. The real animal I want is a Georgian Bay Sporting Dog... schewwww cuteeee! In a few years I will have a puppy... I promise! As for now... Charlie and maybe some fish will have to do!Oh my goodneshhhh schewww cuuuteee

Holy Cow... Phineas Gage 2.0

This 12 year old Australian boy got in a knife fight and this was the result! Holy cow... he is sooo lucky! It didn't even go into his skull or eye just went through the skin on the side of his head! Yuck but wow. Story here

Kate Plus 8/ Twist of Kate

Although Kate Gosselin gives me the heebie jeebies I was really lovin' JK+8 before the whole messy divorce happened. This is why I am excited about the news that Kate and her babies are heading back to TV. Their new show is going to be called, the oh so creative new name "Kate Plus Eight". Are you kidding me!?! Couldn't they have come up with a better name? Like "Hater and her 8er..." well not that but something creative. I'm pumped to see the twins be sooo bitchy and Aiden just be soooo cute! Also Kate has another show on TLC going to be called "Twist of Kate"... better name, but too much Kate no? Read about it here and here

Survivor

Ok I know this is SUPER late but hollllaaaay! Survivor was a crazy town episode! The whole episode was kind of blahhh you figured you knew what was going on... and then BAM! Pavarti (said like the cheese) pulls a move out of no where. I see this move as genius on one hand and retarded on the other. Genius as she got one of the heroes out when that was looking impossible, an retarded as she used BOTH of her idols... shes screwed if she gets in trouble again. Anyhoo - pretty unbelievable move! Will Jerry and Sandra feel like they owe P something and stick with her- I HOPE not... Sandra's gotta go with the Heroes- she's just got to!

Also JT, although I love him, deserved what happened. He got played because he played like a TOOL. 2 huge mistakes by the Heroes and ruthless play by the Villains got them here. Heroes 2 dumb mistakes (as sighted by Charlie, and as agreed upon by the entire world):

1. Candice throwing the immunity challenge- WTF sooo lazy

2. JT giving away the idol- idiot.

Hopefully shit hits the fan this week- can't waiiiit!

Book of the Week

I love books and reading and everything! ahhh! I was talking to the Ginger on the weekend and she was telling me about a book called "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo". I picked it up in the states and started reading this today on the way to work... no I do not drive. I already love it and I'm only 20 pages in! Has anyone read it? I am so excited to read this! It's a movie too and I am a true believer in book before movie! Book report to follow in a few days?

T'is one of the most important days of the entire year- my birthday! Feel free to send any little (or really big) blue boxes, flowers and money to my apartment.

Heading home tonight and I'm pretty excited- roadddddddd trip... plus 2 day work week isn't too shabby either. If I'm a little MIA from GITM for the next few days it's because while all of you suckers are at work/ school, I'm lazing around at home! Suckerrrrrrrrrs

gLee Tonight!!!

gLee is on tonight aaaand it's my b day- could this day get any better? Tonight is the Madonna Episode and I am soooooooooooo pumped. It won't be the same watching it without Charlie though. It is for that reason I have posted a photo of us. I am on the R, Char on the L! Don't we look sooo pretty? Everyone at work sends these little forwards multiple times a day. Usually I delete them without an afterthought... today however THIS shows up. For those of you who are unaware, I hate Twilight as I have a fear of Vampires (yes I know they aren't real... but they're effing scary!) One thing I love is Mr. Bean. The forward today was Beanie photoshopped into a bunch of pics. This obvi was my fav!!! He is just having so much fun riding that vampire!

G'afternoon!

Manic Monday eh? But to be fair the weekend was amahhhzin'! First off- my birthday party was a success! I think I succeeded in staying out of the planning of it- although it was an anxiety producing experience- I did it! lol So many good friends came from all over to hang out! Lor (the ginger) brought her vidicam.... I'm not sure how I feel about it. I love watching videos of other people, but when I watch myself playing MTV cribs the morning after... I may need to reconsider my love. The girl's Christmas party has some horribly embarassing footage, but thankfully nothing like that happened this weekend.

Chel made an amazinnnn cake! Mint choc ice cream, fudge, choc ice cream, fudge, oreos- COULD it posssssssssibly be any more deeeelish? She was pulling off the housewife persona quite well... until she cut through the silicon cake pan- "what a waste of $10" followed by Lor (the ginger) saying "epic hosusewife fail". I love it!

Parcour on the subway, Aero walking home, and seeing 15 people passed out in the living room- HA good times with great amigos!

Yesterday, Dave and I got some breafast with Ann and Adam- delish. Then we went out for Thai for dinner. Obvs I ate waaaaay too much but hey it's 2 days before my birthday. I'm going to try and not use the "hey it's 1 day before my birthday" as an excuse to not work out tonight. We'll see how well that goes over.

Short work week, then home- ayiiii! 5 K this weekend- it's looking good!
